Ms. Julia Chubb

Julia Chubb is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. In the future, she hopes to broaden access to music to those who are less fortunate and continue to expand her musical repertoire. She looks forward to inspiring others to participate in music as well.

From a young age, Julia has had a consistent enthusiasm for performing, from the excitement when learning a new piece to the feeling of accomplishment after a successful performance. She has always loved listening to new kinds of music and continues to listen to music all the time. Her most recent honors include 2021 Certificate of Merit Level 9 State Honors, 2022 Certificate of Merit Level Advanced State Honors, and 2022-2023 Director’s Award for Band recipient.

Julia mainly plays piano and trombone, however she has experience with tenor saxophone and bass trombone as well. Throughout high school, she was consistently involved in the instrumental music program with both trombone and piano. She participated in marching band, jazz band, and concert band all four years of high school. She also has experience performing in a full orchestra her junior and senior years, having performed at the Reneé and Henry Segerstrom Hall with the Irvine Unified School District’s (IUSD) Honor Orchestra. This past year, she had the opportunity to participate in the pit orchestra for the school’s musical on keyboard. Julia is also an active member of her school’s Interlude Club, which provides free lessons to elementary and middle school students for any instrument. In addition, she teaches piano lessons to a few of her neighbors.

Julia also has worked at the IUSD Instrument Rental Office as an instrument cleaner and helps promote instrument rental throughout the district. She believes this work is rewarding since she is able to meet other musicians in the community and provide growing students with an affordable and convenient way to access an instrument.
